“My art rescues a substantial amount of hard drive components from becoming landfill. I estimate a few Petabytes of previously loved data is represented in my Nuit Blanche 2022 installation. All of this data has opportunity to literally shine again.
Technical details:
Though they may look like CDs, these are actually hard drive platters made from glass or aluminum diverted from e-waste. Almost every component of the drives were used in this piece.
